Spring in Southern Oregon is beautiful and perfect for wine tasting; we decided a visit to Dana Campbell Vineyards was in order. The owners, Patrick Dana Flannery and Paula Campbell Brown, purchased the property in 1997 and originally grew echinacea, oats and pasture grasses. They decided to grow grapes in 2006 and planted eight acres of Tempranillo, Malbec and Viognier. They expanded to 15 acres in 2010, planting Sauvignon Blanc, Mourvedre and Carmenere. Over the next three to five years, they plan to add twelve more acres. Currently, Linda Donovan of Pallet Wine Company is producing their wines, ... Read full review

Valley View Winery is Southern Oregon’s oldest winery. It was originally founded by Peter Britt in the 1850’s. It ended in 1906 after his death. The vineyard was then replanted by the Wisnovsky family in 1972, and winemaker John Guerrero has been with the winery for over 20 years.

Upon arrival at Valley View Winery, the first thing you will notice is the vines. There are numerous rows, and behind them is an old, weathered barn that reads “Valley View Winery”. It is a beautiful sight. The tasting room at the front of the property ... Read full review

On a cloudy, rainy Southern Oregon afternoon, the only thing better than curling up by the fire with a good book is visiting a winery. Today was one of those days, and we headed out to Red Lily Vineyards in the Applegate Valley. The number of wineries in the Applegate Valley area has seen significant growth in the last 10 years, with 19 wineries in a small valley just outside Jacksonville, Oregon.

The route to Red Lily takes visitors across a bridge that spans Applegate Creek. The area is green, lush and well ... Read full review

Last week I had the pleasure of heading out to the Applegate Valley. This is an area in Southern Oregon just outside of the town of Jacksonville. The drive is very picturesque with many vineyards and wineries along the way.

We ended up at Serra Vineyards. It is a beautiful 80-acre property on a hillside with the tasting room sitting at the top. When you pull up to the tasting room, you are treated to a beautiful view overlooking the vines with mountains in the background. Even though we were there on a rainy ... Read full review

Wine tasting rooms in Southern Oregon are as uniquely different as the wines themselves. 2Hawk Winery is no exception. 2Hawk's vineyards and tasting room are located in Medford, Oregon in the Rogue Valley.

2Hawk's tasting room opened in 2012 after owner Nisha Jackson (and others) built it from the ground up with reclaimed lumber from various corners of the country. The building has a nice, clean feeling, yet is still rustic in appearance. A highlight is the wonderful chandelier that Nisha created from reclaimed wine bottles. There is a kitchen and a downstairs dining ... Read full review

Living in Southern Oregon wine country definitely has its advantages. With many excellent wineries in the region, the biggest decision is which one to visit.

After much deliberation, my husband and I decided to visit RoxyAnn Winery. The winery is located in Medford, Oregon, and the certified sustainable vineyard consists of 70 acres of mostly Bordeaux and Rhone style grapes at the base of Roxy Ann Peak. As an added bonus, the winery is adjacent to Hillcrest Orchard, a pear and apple orchard that has been operated by the Parsons family for over ... Read full review
