Winery Map of the Day - Umpqua Valley Stars

The Umpqua Valley, situated between the Willamette Valley to the north and the Rogue Valley to the south, has an exceptionally wide range of climates, topography and soil types. Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling thrive in the cooler, northern areas, and Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Viognier do especially well in the warmer, southern regions. The region's northern standout is Brandborg, and most of the other Umpqua Valley quality leaders, including Abacela are located in the southern part of the region near Roseburg.
