As would be expected in such a cool climate, Maine focuses on producing quality wines made from local fruit such as blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, apples, pears, etc. Some wineries are also experimenting with growing vinifera and French-American hybrids, and several wineries import grapes from out-of-state.
