Red Mountain’s southwest slope at the end of Yakima Valley is arguably Washington’s most well-defined AVA. Red Mountain is one of Washington’s hottest locations resulting in very ripe fruit and excellent wines. Some of Washington’s top vineyards (Artz, Bel’ Villa, Ciel du Cheval, Grand Ciel, Hedges Estate, Kiona, Klipsun, Red Mountain Vineyards, Seth Ryan, Taptiel, and Terra Blanca) are located on Red Mountain. Wineries producing wines using Red Mountain fruit include, among others, Andrew Will, Betz Family, Cadence, DeLille, Hedges, and Januik, Saviah Cellars, Terra Blanca, and Quilceda Creek. Red Mountain’s Red Bordeaux and Red Rhone blends are among the best in the U.S. with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon being the stars.
