About Prairie State Winery

Prairie State Winery in Genoa, Illinois opened in the fall of 1999. The concept that the owners, Rick and Maria Mamoser, had in mind was to make only wine made with nothing Illinois grapes. Prairie State has its own vineyard located in rural Kingston, Illinois where wine grapes that are extremely cold hardy are grown. Though some of the wines they produce contain these grapes, most of their wines are made from grapes sourced from other vineyards around the state.
