The Chiles Valley AVA is located about four miles east of Napa Valley in the Vaca Mountains at elevations from 800 to 1300 feet. Due to its eastern location and altitude, the area is little affected by maritime breezes but does experience significant diurnal temperature swings. Some of Napa’s oldest Zinfandel vines are located within the valley. There are less than ten wineries in Chiles Valley and only a few are open for tasting. It’s always a good idea to check with the winery before you head out to this peaceful and relatively remote area.
