The Fair Play AVA is located primarily in Amador County, and the AVA’s northern section extends into El Dorado County. The high altitude vineyards, located between 2000 and 3000 feet, produce wines with good acidity.

There are about 20 wineries in Fair Play with most being scattered between Fair Play and Somerset. Nearly all of the wineries are open for tasting and do not require an appointment.
