The Templeton Gap District AVA is a relatively cool climate region located in the western section of the larger Paso Robles AVA. The area is comprised of the Santa Lucia Range and broad alluvial terraces at elevations between 700 and 1800 feet. Alluvial soils, ranging from shallow to moderate depth, are sandy to silty clay loams.
